Since The Days of The Clipper Ships

The company was founded 90 years ago, but our history goes back 10 generations. Hauling virgin pine logs from Petersham via horse & chain to Gloucester to be used as ship masts for sailing ships was how we got started. Now, for the last 20 years, run by Tom Mann, we focus on reclaimed lumber & granite, and also dabble in specialty lumber from the west coast and the occasional good deal on surplus building materials. When you stop in, there will be lots of eye candy all over the yard: giant millstones, giant timbers, historic stone artifacts, and lots of choices for your next home project.

Got a big project?

We do lots of commercial jobs where our knowledge, skills, and experience set us apart. Need a hundred thousand feet of white oak for your hotel? Done that. Need 20 amazing benches for your half billion dollar corporate HQ? Done that. Need a pergola delivery to a rooftop in NYC? Done that too. We can help with any size commercial project.

Have a Small Project?

We have a retail yard, you are welcome to poke around and get some inspiration just by seeing our inventory. Need a few planks for a floating shelf? No problem. Need 50 square feet for a feature wall? We'll dig out a pile of cool lumber for you. Need 5 cobblestones? that's OK too. We are here to help with making your project come out right.

We have many long relationships with the quarries in Barre, VT and beyond. Your choices for memorial stones are only limited by one's imagination.

Vintage Cobblestones, Millstones & farm troughs. Lots of unique items, like reclaimed marble steps, gigantic 16"x48"x12' (yes, twelve foot!) old granite sidewalks, and our Bear Mountain pink granite remnants from our abandoned quarry.

We have numerous options. Starting with our exclusive deal with an Appalachian flooring mill in TN, for the best deals on wide plank hardwoods.
